    This workshop series is for pediatric care staff, health care providers, and leaders across Ontario.

  • Three-Part Workshop Series

    Each workshop is synchronous and 1.5 hours long. They will be held on March 11, March 18, and March 25, 2025 from 1:00 - 2:30pm ET for all sessions.

  • Black Health Primer

    Ontario's pediatric healthcare system workforce will gain access to the Black Health Primer for free.

About the Learning Series

Participants will have an opportunity to apply and extend their learnings through an accompanying 3-part synchronous series that will specifically tackle the health impacts of anti-Black racism in pediatric populations with subject matter experts.

The workshops promote high-quality, equitable, and culturally affirming care and ensure that clinical and nonclinical health care services are more inclusive and sensitive to the needs of Black children, youth and their communities across Ontario.

Guiding questions for this series:

  • What are the historical roots and legacy of anti-Black racism in society and in the health field?
  • How is anti-Black racism a structural and social determinant of health?
  • What are the physiological impacts of racism on Black children and youth across the life course?
  • What clinical and nonclinical lens supports Black children and youth in their health care needs? 
  • How can I amplify community voices and solutions to address anti-Black racism, youth success, and wellness?
  • How can I intervene and action better professional and organizational anti-racist practices, policies, and strategies?


About the Black Health Primer

Black Health Primer registration is free for Ontario's pediatric health care system workforce.

Participants will gain foundational knowledge and resources to understand, unlearn, and address anti-Black racism through completion of the Black Health Primer. The Black Health Primer (BHP) – is a first-of-its-kind, multi-module online course on Black health and anti-Black racism for health system players.

Black Health Primer Accreditation

This 1-credit-per-hour Self Learning program has been certified by the College Family Physicians of Canada for up to 6.5 Mainpro+® credits. The BHP is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and approved by Continuing Professional Development, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto. You may claim up to a maximum of 6.5 hours (credits are automatically calculated).
